Here we are: Divisional Playoff Saturday.
before we get started, a quick word on how things will proceed.
As you know, The Playoffs involve the points system (covered here and here).
But for the purposes of The Divisional round, there will be additional tiebreakers.
[FYI, I was going to follow the Regular Season tiebreaker format, but this is how we did The Divisional last season, so we’re sticking to the script.]
So the tiebreakers are as follows:
- Number of games picked correctly, as normal.
- The accumulated points total of the correct picks
- The tiebreaker point total of the final ballgame of the weekend (Dallas/SF)
- The closest point total to the over/under total of the last matchup (Dallas/SF) – which is 46 for this weekend (meaning the closest player to this total *IF WE GET TO THIS TIEBREAKER* Wins the pot!)
So for the record, this is the Google Result for the matchup:
I anticipate this weekend’s games will go to tiebreakers, and this will ensure a single Winner for the round. IF NOT, then we will go to the standard tiebreakers.
That’s the contingency plan.
Now that we’ve settled the mechanics, let’s set the table.
There are 37 players shooting at a pot of $740 for The Divisional Round.
Pot’s right.
Below is the spreadsheet for this week’s field:
FOR THE WEEK
- The pot is $740
- There are 37 players
- Once again, each team has been picked. That’s parity in today’s National Football League
- The underdog pick of the week is Jacksonville to Win on the road at Kansas City (which would be a monumental upset). Although they are this weekend’s biggest underdog, Dawson, Ryan M & Susan F are taking ’em. Brave pick folks. Good Luck!
- Although it isn’t unanimous, the popular choice this week is (obviously) Kansas City to Win that same game. As we all know, it’s an any given
SundaySaturday League.
Alright. Time for some football.
Good Luck everybody.
