Just like that, Week 8 is here.
And we’ve hit that crucial juncture of the season, where teams start to separate.
Yes, it’s only October. But we are full on into the Fall.
The leaves are turning, Halloween is right around the corner, and we’re starting to figure some things out about this Football Season.
Or…maybe not.
Hell, who’s the best team in The NFC South? Atlanta? Or is it still slow starting Tampa Bay?
How about The AFC NORTH? Cincinnati? Or does Baltimore begin to right the ship, starting tonight?
This is still anybody’s guess.
Again, therein lies the excitement (or dread, depending on how your team’s season is going).
This league is still very much in anybody’s hands.
For as good as Philadelphia, Buffalo & Kansas City look (right now), they’re one ill-timed matchup against a hot <fill-in-the-blank-team> from humility.
Such is Pro Football nowadays.
From my point of view, virtually everything is conditional – even for the “top” teams.
Will we regard the same teams as the best in The League a month from now? Or even two weeks?
No one can say.
But that suits our purposes well.
That’s what I love about ball right now. There’s so many variables, so many unknowns that it really does make for compelling drama.
What new info will we learn in Week 8? I can’t wait to find out!
Let’s get to it.
For Week 8 we have 73 players shooting at a $365 pot. Not bad. We’re keeping ’em nice & steady.
Pot’s right.
(for those that don’t know: when wagering moolah, once the pot is considered “right” that means that the Winner can expect to gain that amount. In other words, “the house” is guaranteeing that specific amount in the prize pool. Regardless of what happens, if you Win you get that money – no excuses)
Here’s the field:
FOR THE WEEK
- the pot is $365
- there are 73 players
- once again, no unanimous picks this week but Miami, Houston, KC and Detroit are heavily favored by our field.
- the underdog pick this week has Dawson and Jerry II taking Denver to Beat visiting Kansas City. Good underdog pick. Good Luck you two!
- the reining Champ is Jenny M, a new player to the Pick’Em prevailing without even needing the Monday Night Game. You’re going to have to teach me how to do that. Nice Win!
ANNOUNCEMENT: while I do my best to get each & every pick correct, sometimes I make mistakes. If I do mess up, just reach out to me (you can leave a comment below the post & I’ll fix it ASAP). I need to know before the affected game Kicks Off, otherwise, that puts the rest of the field at a competitive disadvantage. Sound good?
Okay, that’s it.
As always, enjoy the games and Good Luck.
