Week 15 was truly one for the ages.

With our first full slate of games after the Bye weeks, we ended our week with a six-way tie at the top of the heap.

And some of you clearly know what that means…

Time to go to the tiebreakers!

BUT

Before we get to the nitty gritty, here’s a quick reminder from the Week 15 Pick Sheet:

 

One thing you should know about our pool is there are NO split pots.

THERE ARE NO SPLIT POTS!  WINNER TAKES ALL!!

Ahem.  It’s vital to tell you that up front.  Yes, there are a series of tiebreakers to determine a sole Winner, but that’ll come later.

Here at the Football Pick’Em, we believe in one Winner.  Period.

Our veteran players know this full well, so this public service announcement is to give everyone fair warning.

Alright?  Now let’s settle this.

So…out of the six players in the pole position, all six went too high on the points tiebreaker.

Remember: in our League, we always use the last game to Kickoff for the week as the total points tiebreaker.  FYI, that game was Atlanta vs. Las Vegas.

The final for that game is

Making the total points 24.

That’s important to us, because every one of the six players tied for first went over that total.

We don’t penalize for going over the total points tally; we reward the closest player to the mark.  In this case, that narrows the field down to 2 players.

Since both had 40 as their points total, we go to the extra tiebreakers.

1. Points

The Monday Night Game is the tiebreaker.  Simply predict the total combined points scored in the ballgame.

Already covered that.  No resolution.  Next.

 

2. Winning Percentage

If #1 doesn’t get it, this one will.

This one did settle it.  I’ll explain below.

Both Players have participated in the last three weeks.

Their stats (that is, correct games) are shown below:

Player A          Week 13: 15           Week 14: 9          Week 15: 15

Player B        Week 13: 12           Week 14: 11          Week 15: 15

Those results are out of the total games played at 45.

Therefore, the Winning Percentage is calculated by dividing the sum total of the correct games picked by the total number of games played.

In other words, the tiebreaker used here rewards the Player that enjoyed the better Winning Percentage overall in head-to-head competition.
